Don't Give Up: Running the Race Set Before You

Philippians 3:12-14

Paul didn’t say he’d already arrived — he said he was pressing on toward the prize. This message is a straightforward push to keep going: there’s a reward on the other side of what you’re walking through, and quitting now trades it away.

Three things mark a runner who finishes well: knowing there’s a prize worth pressing toward, letting go of both the good and bad of your past, and actually putting effort in rather than waiting passively for things to happen. Faith isn’t passive — it sows, it waters, and it keeps showing up, trusting God with the part only He can do.

Key takeaways

  • There’s an actual prize at the end — the race isn’t pointless suffering.
  • Forget the past, both the wins and the losses, and stay focused on today.
  • Faith puts in effort. Sow the seed and keep watering it; let God handle the increase.
